Six business groups have submitted their applications as part of the process initiated by ONEE for the selection of qualified companies for the construction of the El Menzel Pumped Energy Transfer Station (STEP), with a planned capacity of 300 to 400 MW.

“Of these six groups, three have been prequalified,” ONEE stated in a press release.

    These are:

    – Group “CHINA INTERNATIONAL WATER & ELECTRIC CORP. / YELLOW RIVER ENGINEERING CONSULTING. CO LTD / HARBIN ELECTRIC MACHINERY COMPANY LTD / HARBIN ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL COMPANY LTD / JET CONTRACTORS.”

    – Group “SINOHYDRO / ANDRITZ HYDRO.”

    – Group “WEBUILD S.P.A / DONGFANG ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION.”

The prequalified candidates will be invited to submit their technical and financial offers as part of the tender for the construction of the El Menzel STEP, the statement noted.

Located 30 km southeast of the city of Sefrou, towards the north of the Kingdom, the El Menzel STEP is part of ONEE’s equipment program to strengthen renewable energy production facilities.

This is the 3rd STEP developed by ONEE, aligning with the national strategy aimed at increasing the share of renewable energies in the energy mix to exceed 52% by 2030. This project once again illustrates ONEE’s commitment to enhancing energy storage and supporting the Kingdom’s energy transition.
