Driven by Moroccan engineer Inass Jamal El Arab, the app Kool&Save tackles a pressing issue that costs households and the planet dearly: food waste. Currently in testing phase prior to an official launch slated for early 2026 in Casablanca, this digital solution aims to transform unsold goods of the day into “anti-waste” baskets at discounted prices, benefiting both merchants and consumers.
In light of the 4.3 million tons of food wasted each year in Morocco, according to the UN Environment Programme, Kool&Save seeks to give a second life to consumable products. Merchants publish their unsold baskets, available at 50% to 70% off, which customers can reserve and pick up directly in store. Each basket, placed in an opaque Kraft bag, conceals a delightful surprise, chosen according to the type of shop or meal desired.
Beyond an ecological gesture, Kool&Save aims for a triple impact: reducing waste, supporting the incomes of small merchants, and enabling families to access varied meals at lower costs. “Each anti-waste basket tells a beautiful story: that of a merchant who no longer throws away, a family discovering good products at low prices, and a concrete action for the planet,” explains Inass Jamal El Arab, the project’s founder.
A graduate of Grenoble INP and supply chain specialist, the entrepreneur left the industry to embark on a project with impact. Self-taught in no-code development, she designed the app herself, which was entirely developed in Morocco. Kool&Save, available on iOS and Android, will offer two interfaces: one for merchants, who can create and track their sales via QR code, and another for customers, featuring geolocation, filters, and integrated reservations.
Fully self-funded, the startup relies on a balanced economic model with a 7% commission on each basket sold. “With 500 active merchants in Casablanca, we can reach profitability in the first year,” estimates the founder.
Behind Kool&Save, the company Kool&Ktased now structures the project, while Inass Jamal El Arab is also developing Kool&Dev, dedicated to creating no-code applications for other entrepreneurs. The official launch is planned for the first quarter of 2026, with national expansion anticipated by 2027.
Kool&Save thus aims to make the fight against waste a civic reflex — and a sustainable economic opportunity.
