The Hydraulic Basin Agency of Bouregreg and Chaouia (ABHBC) launched the regional water classes caravan on Thursday in Casablanca under the theme “Think: How to act to save water.”

Organized in partnership with the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Casablanca-Settat, this caravan targets 100 schools in the region.

It aims to establish a collective awareness around water issues by mobilizing the entire educational community—students, parents, and teachers—on the imperatives of preserving and rationalizing this strategic resource.

In a statement to MAP, the provincial director of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports in the Anfa prefecture, Bouchra Aârif, emphasized the importance of this environmental event, which is part of a series of ministerial and regional programs involving schools in the region to promote an ecological culture.

She added that students are an essential link in raising society’s awareness of the importance of preserving this vital resource and optimizing its use.

These environmental activities, she said, along with other programs related to school life animation, are integrated into the strategic objectives of the national education system, aiming to develop a sense of citizenship and responsibility in learners and to encourage them to actively engage in integrated and sustainable development.

For her part, the head of the communication and cooperation service at ABHBC, Aziza Bilal, indicated that this caravan aims to expand the circle of beneficiaries and strengthen awareness of the importance of changing behaviors related to water resources and rationalizing consumption.

Moreover, she called on all citizens to actively participate in water conservation and adopt good practices.

The caravan plans, as part of its objectives, to install awareness panels in the classrooms of 100 schools and distribute educational materials, she continued, noting that these actions aim to open debates between students and teachers on the issue of drought and ways to save water.

She also revealed that ABHBC, in coordination with AREF of Casablanca-Settat, is preparing to organize a workshop to finalize the “Water Classes Guide,” which will serve as a pedagogical reference to promote the culture of water conservation.
