For the first time in Morocco, the World Environment Cleanup Day resonated in Khenifra, at the Aguelmame Ouiouane National Park. Nearly 50 participants, half of whom were women, collected and sorted several tons of waste, mostly plastics and household debris, while taking part in a tree-planting initiative with local species.

The initiative is part of the project “Resilient Women in the Middle Atlas,” led by the National Agency for Water and Forests, in partnership with SOCODEVI and with financial support from the Canadian government. It aims to restore ecosystems, protect natural resources, and strengthen the socioeconomic role of women and youth in the region.

This mobilization marks a turning point for the Khenifra National Park, which joins a global movement that gathers millions of volunteers each year in over 180 countries. SOCODEVI, present in Morocco since 2020, works to strengthen local cooperatives and their resilience to climate change, with a concrete impact on the sustainable development of communities.
