The city of Taliouine, located in the Taroudant province, will host its 16th International Saffron Festival from November 20 to 23, with the theme: “Sustainable Water Resource Management: A Lever for the Development of the Saffron Sector in Mountain Regions.”

Organized by the International Saffron Festival Association and its partners, this event is part of the national strategy Generation Green 2020-2030 launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests. The strategy aims to enhance agricultural sectors with high added value and promote sustainable development.

According to the organizers, this year’s edition holds particular significance, as the scientific and professional sessions will focus on promoting good practices in water resource management and adopting innovative and environmentally friendly agricultural practices in line with climate change.

The objective is to strengthen the capacities of farmers and professionals to contribute to achieving ambitious national goals, including increasing saffron cultivation area to 3,000 hectares and improving productivity to over 13 tons by 2030.

The festival program includes an exhibition of local saffron-based products, with the participation of 120 exhibitors expected. This event serves as a professional platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among stakeholders and professionals in the sector, including farmers and cooperatives, and allows for the discovery of successful national and international experiences in production and marketing.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore saffron products from Taliouine, learn about their nutritional and health benefits, and investigate the agricultural and economic potential of the Taliouine and Taznakht regions. This area is known for its peaceful setting, ideal for relaxation and nature exploration, thus contributing to the development of responsible and eco-friendly tourism.

Over four days, the event will offer specialized workshops at the House of Saffron in Taliouine, aimed at enhancing the skills of stakeholders and professional organizations in digital marketing, networking, and entrepreneurship.

The festival will also feature economic, cultural, and sports activities, as well as musical performances and artistic evenings celebrating the main professional cooperatives and honoring professionals and stakeholders in the saffron industry.
