The Moroccan automotive landscape is undergoing a major transformation with the gradual rise of vehicle electrification. Hybrid, full hybrid, and electric models offered by renowned brands such as Audi, Mercedes, BYD, Kia, Porsche, Toyota, and Hyundai have captured the market, marking a significant ecological transition.

In 2023, electric vehicle sales soared by 25.28%, reaching 7,165 units across all categories. Although this growth is notable compared to previous years, these sales represent only 4.5% of the total market, which amounted to 161,504 units. In comparison, in Europe, electric and hybrid vehicles account for 40% of sales.

For the year 2024, more than 463 units of electrified vehicles have been sold nationwide, with Dacia, Citroën, and BYD leading sales. Premium brands such as Audi, Mercedes, and Kia have also launched fully electric models.

Interest in plug-in hybrids is on the rise, particularly among luxury brand customers, with 561 units sold in 2023. Porsche, Land Rover, and Mercedes-Benz dominate this segment. Full hybrids are also experiencing notable popularity, with Toyota, Hyundai, and Renault leading the market.

The automotive market now includes 24 brands and 82 new energy vehicle (NEV) models, compared to 18 brands and 71 models in 2022. This growth in electrified vehicles is also leading to an increase in gasoline vehicle sales, confirming the momentum for alternative powertrain vehicles.

A strategic partnership between LK Automotive Morocco and Lynk & Co will further strengthen the national electric and connected vehicle market. This partnership aims to introduce innovative vehicles as part of a vision for sustainable and accessible mobility for all, while ensuring an exceptional user experience.
