The Moroccan renewable energy sector has adopted a new roadmap aimed at strengthening its competitiveness and developing a dynamic ecosystem serving the local and African markets.

Gathered this week in Casablanca, sector stakeholders attended the presentation of the results of a strategic study commissioned by the Moroccan Association of Solar and Wind Industries (Amisole) in partnership with the National Federation of Electricity, Electronics, and Renewable Energies (Fenelec). This initiative aims to create jobs, increase the rate of national industrial integration, and offer competitive proposals.

The consulting firm Grant Thornton Morocco, the project manager of the study, first presented a detailed diagnosis of the renewable energy sector in Morocco. This diagnosis highlighted the obstacles hindering the sector’s development and proposed recommendations to overcome them. Based on a thorough assessment of the sector’s challenges and an international benchmark, this analysis allowed for the definition of a structured vision for the short and medium term, accompanied by an operational action plan.

The new strategy is based on five main axes, including 17 recommendations and 53 specific actions:

1. Promote the emergence of a competitive local industry in the field of renewable energies.
2. Ensure the quality and compliance of products and services related to renewable energies.
3. Stimulate demand for renewable energy applications and leverage the potential of energy efficiency.
4. Improve local companies’ access to major national and African projects.
5. Reposition Amisole as a key player and privileged interlocutor in the sector.

Fouad El Kohen, president of Amisole, emphasized that this strategy also aims to map the professions in the sector to better structure the opportunities. At the close of the meeting, he urged sector members to work with determination to implement the actions identified in this roadmap.

With this renewed vision, Morocco aims not only to consolidate its position in renewable energies but also to become a regional leader in this strategic field.
