The Marrakech-Safi Regional Multiservice Company (SRM-MS) organized its first Open House Day (JPO) on Tuesday in Marrakech and inaugurated the first edition of its Eco-Village.
In partnership with the Ministry of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Mohammed VI Museum, and the Emerging Business Factory, this event marks a key step towards a regional culture of sustainability and positions Marrakech-Safi as a pilot area for water innovation.
This Open House also aims to raise awareness about sustainable water management and promote civic eco-responsibility in a context marked by water stress.
Speaking on this occasion, SRM-MS General Director Abdellah Ilhami emphasized that the goal is to ensure access to water, electricity, and sanitation across all provinces of the region, to guarantee the supply of drinking water and electricity, to improve the quality of services, and to meet the needs of citizens and socio-economic partners while contributing to the reduction of territorial disparities and ensuring a consistent level and quality of service across all areas of the region.
He also noted that particular attention is given to the environment through sanitation, wastewater treatment and reuse, consumption rationalization, as well as raising awareness about the importance of conserving water and energy, asserting that true development can only be achieved in a harmonious balance between humans and their environment.
For his part, Kamal Tahiri, Vice-President of the Marrakech-Safi Regional Council, highlighted that water plays a crucial and indispensable role at the heart of sustainable development and economic growth, stressing that it is a fundamental pillar for meeting human needs and promoting the rational use of resources.
In this regard, he congratulated the local authorities of the Marrakech-Safi region that, in partnership with prefectures and provinces, have taken the initiative to unite and coordinate their efforts to improve the efficiency of service management, to extend these services to benefit citizens across all areas of the region, and to strengthen the principles of good governance.
Aligned with the Royal Vision regarding water governance, SRM-MS aims to bring citizens closer to public service and to enhance local initiatives.
The Eco-Village, a true laboratory of experiences, will bring together eight thematic spaces focused on water, energy, and recycling, featuring educational workshops and interactive activities for young people.
This event, which continues until October 30, will highlight the creativity of students and startups called upon to propose concrete solutions to environmental challenges, while conferences, panels, and screenings will complement the program, gathering experts, institutions, and economic stakeholders.
