For the second consecutive year, LG Electronics has achieved the “Top 1%” ranking in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment – CSA conducted by S&P Global. With a score of 77 out of 100, LG ranks among the best companies in the Leisure and Consumer Products sector, confirming its commitment to sustainability.

    A strengthened ESG commitment

This distinction reflects LG’s ambitious strategy regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. The company stands out for:

    • An effective management of resources and energy, with a reduction in waste and pollutants.
    • A responsible approach to the supply chain, integrating human rights and transparency.
    • Strong governance practices, ensuring clear communication on sustainable initiatives.

    Ambitious environmental goals

As part of its “Better Life For All” vision, LG has defined six strategic ESG priorities, structured around two axes:

    • The “3Cs” for the planet: carbon neutrality, resource circularity, and clean technologies.
    • The “3Ds” for individuals: inclusive design, fair working conditions, and diversity & inclusion.

The company aims for a transition to 100% renewable energy at its sites in South Korea, the United States, and its international factories by 2050. It has also committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

Moreover, LG is the first home appliance company in South Korea to have its targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to reduce its direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 54.6% by 2030, using 2017 as the baseline year. Additionally, it aims to reduce indirect emissions related to the use of its products (Scope 3) by 20% by 2030.

    Towards more responsible production

To minimize its ecological footprint, LG focuses on increasing the use of recycled plastics from end-of-life appliances and on the eco-design of its packaging, promoting the use of paper materials.

    An exemplary governance model

LG is also continuing its efforts for transparent and responsible governance by strengthening:

    • The independence and diversity of its board of directors.
    • Its principles regarding human rights and ethical compliance.
    • Its communication with stakeholders, particularly through the Vision for the Future 2030 and policies promoting shareholder returns.

    A commitment to sustainable growth

“As a committed global player, LG will continue to adopt best ESG practices to build a sustainable and responsible future,” said Hong Sung-min, head of LG’s ESG strategy division.

Through its environmental and social initiatives, LG strengthens its position as a leader in sustainability and inspires the technology sector to follow the same path.
