The Popular Bank Foundation (FBP) equipped the primary school “Tariq Ibn Ziyad” in Laâyoune on Tuesday with 12 school libraries filled with books suitable for different educational levels.

On this occasion, a ceremony was held at the institution, reflecting the strong commitment of the Popular Bank Foundation to reading, education, and the personal development of students.

This project is part of the pedagogical innovation dynamic driven by the 2022-2026 roadmap and the “Pioneering Schools” program, aimed at placing reading at the heart of school life.

By providing each classroom with a nearby library and implementing a personalized support program, this educational initiative aims to create a stimulating environment to promote reading among students.

In a statement to MAP, the Secretary General of the Popular Bank Foundation, Houda Laaraj, emphasized the importance of this initiative to equip 12 classrooms of the “Tariq Ibn Ziyad” school with books in Arabic and French, according to the students’ educational levels, in order to promote the act of reading among them.

Ms. Laaraj also recalled the Foundation’s commitment to education for 40 years, mentioning some initiatives such as providing laptops to secondary school students, equipping student houses with solar water heaters, and rehabilitating schools in rural areas.

For his part, the Head of the Pedagogical Affairs Division at the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Mohamed Hssini, noted that this initiative, which follows a partnership agreement concluded between AREF and the Popular Bank Foundation, enriches the library of this educational institution with books in both languages that will encourage the act of reading among rising generations.

It should be noted that education is one of the priority intervention areas of the Popular Bank Foundation. It dedicates concrete, sustainable, and targeted actions to promote the academic and personal development of young generations and to contribute to building a better future.

Notable attendees at this ceremony included the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Popular Bank of Laâyoune, Abdenaceur Bougtib, the acting provincial director of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Ali Boulssane, the president of the Association of Parents and Guardians of Students, Khadija Assal, and the director of the “Tariq Ibn Ziyad” school, Bouchaib Souaic, as well as members of the teaching staff.
