Morocco is one of the first twelve signatories of the Global Clean Power Alliance, an initiative launched by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. This partnership aims to accelerate the global energy transition by bringing together nations from the North and South around common goals.
An alliance to accelerate the energy transition
Alongside Morocco, countries such as Brazil, Australia, Canada, France, and Tanzania have joined this global coalition. The Alliance aims to triple renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency, in line with commitments made at COP28. It also focuses on concrete objectives, such as unlocking large-scale private financing to support developing countries in their energy transition.
Sharing expertise and funding for sustainable energy
The Global Clean Power Alliance positions itself as a platform for collaboration and technical assistance, helping countries develop sustainable infrastructures and establish dedicated investment platforms. In addition to its technical support, it seeks to ensure that developing countries are not left behind in the race for clean energy.
An ambitious vision for a global energy future
Keir Starmer praised this global mobilization, emphasizing that it represents a crucial opportunity to address the climate crisis while generating jobs and inclusive economic growth. The United Kingdom, which has recently taken ambitious steps to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 81% by 2035, plays a leading role in this initiative.
Morocco, a key player in the energy transition
By joining the Alliance, Morocco strengthens its position as a regional and international leader in renewable energy. This participation is part of its ongoing efforts to promote a green and sustainable economy, in line with its international climate commitments.
