E-fuels and Hydrogen: Rabat at the Heart of the Global Dialogue on Decarbonized Mobility - Greentimes

Rabat will soon host the third edition of the International Dialogue on e-fuels, organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics under the theme “Paving the way for clean mobility.” Through this strategic meeting, Morocco confirms its ambition to establish itself as a regional hub for energy transition and a key player in the development of synthetic fuels for sustainable mobility.

Featuring a format with significant diplomatic and technological reach, this gathering will bring together nearly 200 participants, including policymakers, representatives from international organizations, energy and transport industry leaders, climate experts, and institutional investors. Plenary sessions, technical conferences, bilateral meetings, and high-level exchanges will shape a dialogue designed to act as a catalyst for structural partnerships and pilot projects.

The choice of e-fuels aligns with a forward-looking vision. Produced from green hydrogen and captured CO₂, these synthetic fuels represent a viable solution for sectors that are hard to electrify, such as aviation, maritime transport, and heavy freight. By investing in this technology, the Kingdom is leveraging its strengths in renewable energy and preparing for shifts in the global energy market, while also strengthening future Euro-African logistics corridors.

Beyond the technological challenges, the event highlights the rising influence of Moroccan climate diplomacy based on innovation, energy sovereignty, and intercontinental cooperation. It fits into a larger international context, marked by Morocco’s positioning on major multilateral stages and the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup.

The initiative continues from the 2023 edition, which had already gathered over 150 participants from Europe, Africa, and the Arab world around innovations related to synthetic fuels, regulatory frameworks, and climate financing mechanisms. This third edition aims to take a significant step forward by consolidating a coalition of committed stakeholders and laying the groundwork for an e-fuels industry that supports clean, competitive, and sustainable mobility, with Rabat as one of its key centers.
