    Agriculture and Local Produce: Morocco Strengthens Its Agricultural Diplomacy at the Green Week in Berlin

    For the eleventh consecutive year, Morocco affirms its presence on the international agricultural scene by participating in the International Green Week in Berlin, organized from January 16 to 25, 2026. This global reference event for agriculture, agri-food, and food security serves as a strategic showcase for the Kingdom, positioned at the intersection of promoting local produce, international cooperation, and economic diplomacy.

    The official inauguration of the Moroccan pavilion was presided over on Friday, January 16, by Ahmed El Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, in the presence of his German counterpart Alois Georg Josef Rainer, as well as diplomatic representatives, institutional officials, and industry professionals. This solemn opening marks Morocco’s intention to enhance its visibility in European markets and to showcase an agricultural model based on quality, sustainability, and traceability.

    ### Moroccan Terroir as a Showcase of Excellence

    The Moroccan pavilion features around twenty stands, presented by 20 cooperatives from the twelve regions of the Kingdom. Local products, artisanal know-how, and culinary traditions are showcased through culinary demonstrations and cultural activities, offering visitors an immersive experience in the richness and diversity of Moroccan gastronomy.

    This participation emphasizes the upgrading of Moroccan products, which now meet the most demanding international standards in terms of quality, food safety, and traceability. It reflects the efforts made by cooperatives and public authorities to structure supply chains, enhance local added value, and improve access for Moroccan products to international markets.

    ### Agricultural Cooperation and Food Safety at the Heart of Exchanges

    On the sidelines of the event and the activities of the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture, the Moroccan minister held multiple bilateral meetings with several European partners. Discussions were notably held with Stefan Krajewski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland, as well as with Angela Eagle, Minister of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the United Kingdom.

    These exchanges focused on cooperation prospects in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, with particular emphasis on food security, sustainable water resource management, and climate change adaptation—issues that have become central to agricultural strategies on both sides of the Mediterranean.

    The meeting with the Polish side culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in animal health and food safety of animal products. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to harmonize standards, secure trade exchanges, and strengthen mutual trust between the health systems of the two countries.

    ### A Strategic Presence in a Tense Global Context

    Through its participation in the Green Week in Berlin, Morocco asserts its position as a credible and engaged agricultural player, capable of combining local promotion, health requirements, and international cooperation. In a global context marked by tensions over supply chains, climate, and food security, the Kingdom uses this platform to project an image of resilient, innovative agriculture focused on sustainable partnerships.
