The OCP Group and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have signed a renewable five-year memorandum of understanding in Riyadh. This commitment aims to structure cooperation around agricultural transformation, low-carbon industrial development, and digital innovation, both in Africa and internationally.

This agreement strengthens an already active collaboration between UNIDO, whose mandate focuses on inclusive and sustainable industrial development, and OCP, a key player in plant nutrition solutions and phosphate fertilizers.

    ### Green Hydrogen, Agribusiness, and Decarbonization at the Core of the Alliance

The two institutions plan to jointly address several priorities:

    – Consolidation and modernization of integrated agricultural chains,
    – Development of projects related to green hydrogen and ammonia,
    – Reduction of the carbon footprint of industrial activities.

The protocol also outlines collaborations in the fields of Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, and the design of industrial parks that incorporate sustainability principles.

    ### A Shared Ambition: Sustainable and Inclusive Growth

Hanane Mourchid, Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer of the OCP Group, emphasizes that this agreement enhances the group’s capacity to support a fair and sustainable transition while developing related skills. She highlights the structural role of this partnership for farmers and the communities involved.

For his part, Gerd Müller, General Director of UNIDO, underscores that the fight against food insecurity requires more robust production systems, bolstered by innovation and strong alliances with the private sector.

    ### A New Milestone in a Structuring Collaboration

This signing marks an additional step in the rapprochement between OCP and UNIDO around converging objectives: sustainability, innovation, inclusive agricultural development, and the acceleration of industrial solutions to meet future challenges. The joint statement highlights a shared ambition: to support more resilient growth for the benefit of African economies and beyond.
