On the occasion of the World Oral Health Day 2025, Haleon, a major player in consumer health, is partnering with the International Dental Federation (FDI) and the Moroccan Association for Oral Health Prevention to organize a large-scale event at the Hyatt Regency Casablanca. Bringing together more than 200 professionals, this meeting provided an opportunity to assess the state of oral health in Morocco and identify areas for improvement.

    A Public Health Issue

The initiative is part of the overall strategy of the FDI, which aims to strengthen access to education, prevention, and innovative care. The figures are concerning: in Morocco, 54% of adults suffer from dental hypersensitivity and nearly 20% of those over 15 are affected by severe periodontal diseases.

Under the theme “A Healthy Mouth, A Healthy Mind”, Dr. Nawal Rabi, representative of the Moroccan Association for Oral Health Prevention and the African Regional Organization of the FDI, raised awareness about the urgency of the situation:

“More than a third of Moroccans aged five and older suffer from untreated cavities. Through our partnership with Haleon, we want to intensify prevention strategies, raise public awareness, and improve access to care. Our goal is clear: to place oral health at the heart of overall well-being.”

    A Strong Commitment to Prevention

Yasser Abdelmoneim, head of expert relations for North Africa at Haleon, emphasizes the importance of the role of professionals:

“Beyond care, dentists play a key role in educating and raising awareness among patients. Too many people, due to lack of information or fear, delay their treatment, which worsens their condition. At Haleon, we provide them with the latest advances in clinical research and care technologies, available both in person and through digital platforms.”

In this context, Asif Alavi, general manager of Haleon for North Africa, highlights a prevention-focused approach:

“The majority of oral diseases are preventable, yet they continue to have a significant impact on patients and healthcare systems. Through our Haleon Health Partner portal, we offer professionals clinical resources, webinars, and training tools for better patient care. By collaborating with the FDI and the Moroccan Association for Oral Health Prevention, we aim to strengthen preventive actions and improve access to care.”

Sensodyne, at the Heart of Innovation

Sensodyne, the reference brand for dentists for dental sensitivity, plays a key role in this dynamic by offering training programs dedicated to professionals, developing strategic collaborations, and facilitating access to the latest technological advances. Haleon aims to train all Moroccan dental professionals by 2026, providing them with the necessary tools for optimal patient care.

A Technological Immersion for Better Care

The event was also marked by an immersive experience through a virtual reality simulator, designed to enhance dentist training and improve patient education. A concrete illustration of Haleon’s commitment to integrating innovation in the service of oral health.

With this initiative, Haleon reaffirms its commitment alongside the FDI and Moroccan associations. By combining prevention, education, and innovation, the company aims to sustainably improve the oral health of Moroccans and contribute to a better quality of life.
