On the occasion of World Ocean Day, celebrated under the theme “Awaken New Depths,” the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, is organizing a week of activities to raise awareness about the importance of oceans. From June 3 to 8, events will take place in eleven coastal cities in Morocco, highlighting the blue economy, ocean infrastructure, circular economy, underwater heritage, as well as marine science and technology.

More than 500 young people will participate in visits to maritime sites and awareness activities, including visits to ports, lighthouses, desalination plants, and aquaculture farms. An exhibition on the wreck of the Kaiser Wilhelm ship in Dakhla and the discovery of an underwater archaeological site off the coast of Safi are also planned.

In addition, the Foundation is conducting the 5th edition of the #b7arblaplastic operation to combat plastic pollution in the oceans. This initiative is recognized by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science (2021-2030) and emphasizes the valorization of plastic waste and youth engagement through educational and recycling activities.

Ocean Week is made possible thanks to the support of economic, public, and private partners, as well as civil society associations, all mobilized to protect the oceans, an essential common good.
