On the occasion of World Environment Day, celebrated every year on June 5, LG Electronics Morocco, in partnership with the High Atlas Foundation (HAF), is launching an ambitious initiative aimed at restoring and preserving the ecosystem of the Al Haouz province while providing sustainable economic prospects for local communities. This initiative consists of planting nearly 5,000 olive trees. Following the devastating earthquake that occurred on September 8, 2023, the communities in the Al Haouz region have engaged in a long and difficult reconstruction process. In this context, the High Atlas Foundation has strengthened its support for local communities through sustainable income-generating initiatives, such as the fruit tree nursery established in 2012 in the municipality of Tomsolht. It also houses a women’s cooperative producing carpets and other handicrafts, thereby strengthening the economic and social fabric of the region. Speaking about this initiative, Soufiane Benabadji, Marketing Director of LG Electronics Morocco, emphasized the crucial importance of environmental preservation: “At LG Electronics, we believe that every action counts in the fight against climate change. This fruit tree planting campaign aims not only to protect the environment but also to economically support local communities by providing them with sustainable sources of income.” Yossef Ben-Meir, President of the High Atlas Foundation, praised LG Electronics Morocco’s commitment to this initiative: “It is by joining forces that we can truly create a positive impact on the environment and the lives of local communities. We are grateful to LG Electronics Morocco for its support and commitment to nature preservation.” The teams from LG Electronics Morocco visited the villages of Achbarou and Akrich yesterday, Wednesday, June 5, to share a day with the residents and plant olive trees together. This symbolic day strengthened ties with local communities and raised further awareness of the importance of environmental preservation. The joint initiative of LG Electronics Morocco and the High Atlas Foundation embodies a deep commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development. These actions demonstrate the importance of collaboration between businesses and non-profit organizations to create a positive impact in local communities and promote a more sustainable future for all.
