Morocco draws inspiration from Lithuania’s experience, considered one of the most advanced European countries in terms of sustainable public procurement (SPP) and the dematerialization of public contracts.
To this end, a recent exchange by a delegation from the Moroccan Observatory of Public Procurement (OMCP) with key institutional actors and Lithuanian experts provided an opportunity to discuss the integration of environmental criteria in public contracts and the practical modalities for collecting and publishing data related to public procurement in general, according to a statement from the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR).
This exchange, conducted under the “Green Budget Transition” program, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France, is part of the implementation of the OMCP action plan, the statement notes.
It aims to strengthen the capacities of its members, promote openness to inspiring international experiences, and develop technical cooperation in terms of sustainability and data governance in public procurement, the same source adds.
It also reminds that the Moroccan Observatory of Public Procurement was created by decree n°2.22.78 of April 22, 2024. Its missions include collecting, processing, and analyzing data related to public procurement, as well as promoting and enhancing the related economic, financial, and accounting information.
The Observatory also aims to analyze the economic impact of public procurement and conduct thematic studies related to its missions.
