The city of Sidi Kacem will host, from November 26 to 29, the first edition of the National Citrus Salon, themed “The Citrus Sector Facing the Challenge of Sustainable Water Resource Management.”
Organized by the Regional Agricultural Development Office of Gharb (ORMVAG), in partnership with the Moroccan Interprofessional Citrus Federation (Maroc Citrus) and in collaboration with the Province of Sidi Kacem, this event will bring together producers, exporters, industrialists, researchers, experts, professional organizations, and public institutions to discuss current issues and structural innovations in the sector. The salon will take place under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, covering a total area of 13,000 m², of which 5,000 m² will be covered.
Several thematic areas will be offered:
- Institutional Area, bringing together public organizations and technical institutions supporting the sector, investment, and regulation.
- Interprofessional Area, focused on consultation and coordination of representative organizations in the sector, particularly Maroc Citrus.
- Agro-supply Area, dedicated to companies providing inputs, equipment, irrigation technologies, and innovative production solutions.
- Agricultural Advisory Area, offering training, demonstrations, and knowledge transfer to producers.
- Local Products and Social and Solidarity Economy Area, showcasing agricultural cooperatives and local valorization.
A Regional Space will allow the main producing areas of the Kingdom – Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Fès-Meknès, Marrakech-Safi, Casablanca-Settat, the Oriental, Souss-Massa, and Béni Mellal-Khénifra – to present their production, initiatives, and the diversity of their fresh and processed products.
The salon will also include two scientific days, gathering researchers, experts, and professionals for conferences, panels, and B2B meetings, and is expected to attract around 30,000 participants. A comprehensive communication program will ensure wide media coverage to highlight the event and efforts for sustainable and competitive development in the citrus sector.
This first edition is part of the Generation Green 2020-2030 initiative, aimed at enhancing competitiveness, improving quality, diversifying markets, and promoting a sustainable model. The host region, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, benefits from favorable agro-climatic conditions, significant hydro-agricultural developments, and a strong modernization dynamic, making it one of the most vibrant citrus production basins in the country.
