SDX Energy announced the discovery of a gas field in Morocco, estimated at approximately 47 billion cubic feet, according to its latest report. Two abandoned wells have also been identified, which could potentially provide more than 3 billion cubic feet of gas.

These discoveries are part of the national strategy for energy exploration and development, led by the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) and various companies. SDX Energy plans to drill new wells by the end of 2024 and continues to seek funding to strengthen its operations in Morocco.

Technological advancements, such as the reprocessing of 3D seismic data, have allowed for the classification of new deposits, revealing an additional potential of 4.7 billion cubic feet of gas. In collaboration with ONHYM and several multinationals, SDX aims to enhance gas production and support the country’s energy development.

Despite challenges related to the temporary reduction in gas supply, the company plans to launch new drilling campaigns, particularly in areas where the chances of success are estimated at 99%. These initiatives are expected to attract investments and ensure a stable supply for local industries.
