During the **4th edition of the MD Sahara Annual Forum**, held in Dakhla on December 6 and 7, 2024, Said Mouline, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security, emphasized Morocco’s leading role in energy transition in Africa. This event coincided with two significant anniversaries: the **25th anniversary of the reign** of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the **10th anniversary of the Southern Provinces Development Program**. Mouline highlighted the significant progress made by Morocco, stating that energy transition is crucial for the future of the African continent.

    ### Priorities of Moroccan Energy Policy

Said Mouline detailed the **three priorities** of Moroccan energy policy:

    – **Social aspect**: Ensure equitable access to energy for all.
    – **Economic aspect**: Stimulate growth through sustainable energy projects.
    – **Political aspect**: Establish a strong regulatory framework to support these initiatives.

These priorities are supported by quantified objectives and specialized agencies, contributing to the sustainable development of Morocco and its region. Through market openness and public-private partnerships, the country has established itself as a global leader in renewable energy, particularly solar and wind.

    ### Transition to Decarbonized Energies

Mouline also stressed the importance of a transition to **decarbonized energies**, emphasizing nuclear energy. At the COP in Dubai in 2023, Morocco committed to becoming a leader in the global initiative for energy decarbonization. This strategic shift aims to develop nuclear energy as a clean energy source, essential for addressing global environmental challenges.

    ### Energy Interconnection in Africa

Another crucial point raised by Mouline concerns **energy interconnection** between African countries. He advocated for increased integration of electrical networks to encourage ambitious economic projects. The interconnection between Morocco and Europe could serve as a model for other regions of the continent, thereby ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply.

    ### Governance and Sustainability

To ensure the success of this energy transition, Mouline emphasized the need for **strong and transparent governance**. A stable regulatory framework is essential to ensure the sustainability of energy projects. Morocco, as a leader, must guide Africa towards sustainable energy independence based on renewable resources.
