Saham Bank is heavily focusing on water efficiency to enhance the resilience of economic operators against water stress, stated Anissa Chekroun, Chief Sustainability Officer at Saham Bank, on Monday.
In a statement to the MAP, on the sidelines of the 19th World Water Congress, Ms. Chekroun emphasized that Morocco is currently at the center of water concerns, in a context marked by repeated years of drought and steadily growing demand for water, both demographic and economic.
She specified that several industrial and service sectors are significantly impacted, particularly agri-food with its cooling systems, the chemical industry, and the paper and cardboard sectors, which are especially water-intensive.
“Our role is to support these operators in improving their processes to optimize their water efficiency,” she noted.
Ms. Chekroun also highlighted the innovative financing solutions implemented by Saham Bank, both in financial structuring and project engineering, to enable companies to integrate next-generation water technologies.
“We collaborate with engineers and experts specializing in the latest global innovations to enhance the water performance of industrial operators,” she added.
She concluded that Saham Bank is determined to turn this water challenge into a genuine opportunity for the Moroccan economy.
Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the World Water Congress, co-hosted until December 5 by the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), offers a platform to explore innovative solutions, strategies, and adaptive approaches for water resources in a constantly changing world.
This 19th edition includes a ministerial roundtable, four high-level panels, over 140 technical sessions led by international experts, parallel events to delve into specialized themes, and a large exhibition space dedicated to showcasing innovative water technologies and projects.
The proceedings of this major event will culminate in the “Marrakech Declaration,” a collective call bringing together decision-makers, scientists, and practitioners to strengthen the link between science, policy, and action, and accelerate global mobilization for water conservation.
