The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, represents His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the “One Water” Summit, which opened on Tuesday in Riyadh to discuss the global water resource scarcity and related challenges.

Upon his arrival on Monday evening at King Khalid International Airport, Mr. Akhannouch, who was accompanied by the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, the Mayor of Riyadh.

The “One Water Summit,” which takes place alongside the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), is an initiative led by Saudi Arabia in partnership with France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank to discuss water scarcity worldwide.

This edition, which sees the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and World Bank President Ajay Banga, will bring together hundreds of policymakers, business leaders, and experts from around the world within the pavilion dedicated to the Saudi Green Initiative in the green zone at COP16 on desertification.

This event will include several thematic sessions aimed at exploring best practices, discovering the latest innovations, and examining progress made towards achieving the Initiative’s goals, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation for a more sustainable future.
