The city of Benguérir is hosting, until May 10, the activities of the provincial forum on environment and technology, benefiting more than 100 residents of the “Dour Talib and Taliba” from various municipalities in the province of Rehamna.
Under the theme “Childhood and technology in the service of the environment,” this event, initiated by the associations “Bawsala for social works” and “Amjad for development and solidarity,” with the support of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), is part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Initiative and the implementation of the project to strengthen the services of reception structures for students in the province.
The organizers have planned a series of diverse activities, including artistic, ecological, and technological workshops, logic games, reading sessions, and first aid simulations, thus combining awareness of the environment and health, as well as promoting the intelligent use of technologies.
In a statement to MAP, Safaa Benrahhal, head of the Human Capital Empowerment service for emerging generations at the Social Action Division (DAS) of the Rehamna province prefecture, emphasized that this forum aims to accompany the child from being a simple receiver of knowledge to a junior ecological actor, aware of the importance of preserving their environment and capable of using technology in the service of societal causes, recalling that this activity fully aligns with the objectives of the INDH, which places crucial importance on investing in childhood.
The challenge today is no longer limited to acquiring school knowledge but extends to building a student’s personality that is aware of environmental issues and masters technological tools, especially in rural areas that require increased support, she noted.
For his part, Rachid Kabli, director of the provincial forum of “Dour Talib” in the province of Rehamna, stated that this event constitutes a complementary step within a broader project carried out in partnership with institutional and associative actors, aiming to enhance the socio-cultural animation activities in these establishments while strengthening their sports and artistic dimension.
The main objective of the forum, he continued, is to create a space for education and entertainment for children, in direct continuation of the proximity caravan dedicated to promoting reception structures, while also highlighting secondary objectives such as strengthening the skills of young supervisors and developing children’s capacities in creative thinking and planning, thus contributing to increasing the attractiveness of these social establishments.
Approached by MAP, several residents expressed their joy at participating in this forum, describing the experience as “motivating,” like Khadija, a resident of “Dar Taliba” in the municipality of Bouchane, who shared her enthusiasm for having participated in an enriching ecological workshop.
As for Ahmed, a resident at “Dar Talib” in the municipality of Sidi Bouatmane, he emphasized the importance of practical workshops in the technological field, indicating that he learned for the first time how to use editing software, select images, cut videos, and add titles.
The forum’s program also includes site visits to reference scientific infrastructures, such as the Technology and Agricultural Innovation Transfer Center and the “Green Energy Park” energy park affiliated with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, as well as artistic and recreational animations, including outdoor evenings and other playful activities.
This event thus serves as an opportunity to strengthen the values of ecological citizenship among younger generations and to encourage them to demonstrate creativity and innovation in environmental and technological fields, for a more sustainable future in the province of Rehamna in particular, and in Morocco in general.
