Tan-Tan has reached a new industrial milestone with the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Investment and American company GPM Holding to establish a polysilicon factory, a vital material for the production of photovoltaic components. With an investment of 8 billion dirhams, the project stands out as one of the most significant industrial investments in the region.

Beyond the financial commitment, this project is distinguished by its direct economic impact: 1,500 jobs will be created on-site, in addition to over 2,000 indirect positions. The facility, which will have an annual capacity of 30,000 tons, will direct 85% of its production to international markets, opening a new high-tech export corridor for the region.

Designated as a strategic project since February 2024, this industrial complex fully aligns with the national strategy for renewable energy development. By strengthening the solar value chain, it contributes to establishing Morocco’s position in the global energy transition industry, particularly in the manufacturing of components for photovoltaic panels.

The project also benefits from a solid institutional framework. A cooperation protocol links the Ministry, the Guelmim-Oued Noun Province, Tan-Tan Province, and GPM Holding to support the establishment, promote local economic integration, and structure a comprehensive industrial ecosystem. The initiative also includes the training of young talents in coordination with training centers to enhance regional employability.

According to the Ministry of Investment, this momentum aligns with the High Royal Guidelines encouraging productive investment that creates jobs and fosters territorial equity. Tan-Tan thus confirms its entry into a new phase of development, driven by future industries.
