The Orange Foundation Morocco delivered digital equipment to the “Ain Choufou” school in M’diq on Saturday, as part of the “Digital Schools” program initiated by the Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
This consists of a digital kit made up of 25 tablets, a laptop for the teacher, 25 headsets, a Bluetooth speaker, a projector, a server for educational content, and other accessories.
In a statement to MAP, the head of the Orange Foundation Morocco, Siham Belmamoun, emphasized that this initiative is part of the “Digital Schools” program, which aims to provide digital equipment and digitized educational and pedagogical content for primary school students in public schools, stating that the goal is to familiarize students with digital tools and improve their academic results through a playful teaching method using information and communication technologies (ICT).
This project, she continued, also aims to promote access to educational and extracurricular content, in order to disseminate fundamental skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics, while offering beneficiaries the opportunity to access more advanced knowledge in various fields, such as sciences, history, and foreign languages.
Ms. Belmamoun noted that the program consists of two components: the digital equipment of schools (tablets, a laptop, headsets for listening to interactive programs, a projector, and a server for educational content that all tablets can connect to, allowing students to follow their lessons and engage in extracurricular activities and exercises in a fun way) and the pedagogical content, developed in partnership with the supervising ministry, noting that this content is accessible via a Raspberry server that provides access to all tablets.
The choice of this school was made by the supervising ministry based on several criteria, including the commitment of the teachers, the school’s participation in innovative programs, and the institution’s capacity to deploy and develop the “Digital Schools” program, the official explained.
“Since 2022 to date, we have equipped 71 digital schools across the Kingdom, including 26 educational institutions in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, particularly in Tanger, Tétouan, M’diq-Fnideq, and Fahs Anjra,” she said, specifying that the “Ain Choufou” school is the last institution equipped by the Foundation as part of the second phase of the “Digital Schools” program.
For his part, the provincial director of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in M’diq-Fnideq, Said Boudra, praised this remarkable initiative aimed at providing this pioneering school with digital equipment and educational and pedagogical content developed by the ministry, in addition to other programs created by the Foundation, in order to enable students to improve their academic results.
In this regard, the official expressed the wish to launch similar initiatives in other educational institutions in the M’diq-Fnideq prefecture, particularly in rural areas, to familiarize students with digital tools and provide them with optimal learning conditions.
The Orange Foundation Morocco thus reaffirms its commitment to digital inclusion, through its ambition to democratize access to technology for students, especially those from rural backgrounds, to enable them to improve their academic results and contribute to combating school dropout.
