A new company called HyMaroc Limited has just been established. The result of a partnership between the British companies Getech and Sound Energy, this equally-owned joint venture aims to explore natural hydrogen and helium in Moroccan territory.

This announcement, made on Monday, June 23, is part of a cooperation agreement between the two partners. According to a statement consulted by Barlamane.com, an initial regional study has already identified several areas deemed promising. This preliminary identification marks the starting point for a phase of more in-depth investigations through targeted geological analyses.

The HyMaroc company, which complies with Moroccan regulatory frameworks, will be responsible for applying for the necessary permits for exploration and, ultimately, for any potential exploitation of resources. Getech and Sound Energy plan to conduct geophysical surveys ahead of any drilling campaign.

Sound Energy plc, already well established in Morocco in the field of gas exploration, intends to leverage its experience in the kingdom for this new energy venture. The company specializes in developing energy transition projects, particularly in high-potential fields.

Both companies assert that their approach is based on a rigorous scientific method and strict compliance with national regulations, with the aim of ensuring the smooth conduct of future operations.

The emergence of HyMaroc reflects the growing interest of international players in Morocco’s untapped natural resources, in a global context where natural hydrogen could become a strategic asset in the energy transition.
