In a context where sustainability and social responsibility are at the heart of global concerns, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is leading the project “Monitoring and Reporting on Due Diligence in the Automotive Industry in Morocco,” aimed at improving the practices of Moroccan SMEs. This project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moroccan Association of Automotive Industry and Construction (AMICA), and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
As part of this initiative, the “ESG Days” were organized, a flagship initiative that brought together, at its launch, Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ms. Sanae LAHLOU, UNIDO Country Representative in Morocco, and Mr. Rachid MACHOU, President of AMICA. The main objective of this event is to raise awareness among companies about the challenges of due diligence, to support them in implementing responsible and sustainable practices, and to promote exchanges among the stakeholders of the Moroccan automotive ecosystem.
One of the highlights of these days is dedicated to discussions around the creation of a “Helpdesk” dedicated to due diligence. This personalized assistance service will provide support to companies, especially SMEs, by guiding them through the complexities of regulation and helping them to implement effective strategies for managing environmental and social risks.
The second day of the “ESG Days” will feature practical workshops designed to enable participants to acquire the tools and skills necessary for integrating due diligence into their activities.
