Morocco: €100 Million from the OPEC Fund to Strengthen Economic and Climate Resilience

Morocco has received new international financial support. The OPEC Fund for International Development has granted a package of 100 million euros to support the second phase of the Economic Governance and Climate Resilience Support Program.

This funding complements the 181.8 million euros already mobilized from the African Development Bank (AfDB). It falls within a multi-year program (2024–2026) aimed at consolidating the Kingdom’s structural reforms and enhancing its capacity to absorb economic and environmental shocks.

The dual ambition is to improve economic competitiveness and strengthen climate resilience. Specifically, the focus is on modernizing sector governance, accelerating the development of sustainable infrastructure, and placing the private sector more centrally in wealth and job creation.

This second phase builds upon the achievements made during the first phase, particularly in public management and adaptation to climate challenges. For international partners, this new commitment reflects the trust placed in Morocco and its strategy for transitioning to a more inclusive and sustainable development model.

Beyond budgetary support, the expected reforms should stimulate private investment, strengthen the competitiveness of the productive fabric, and enhance the effectiveness of public action. In a global context marked by economic instability and climate disruptions, this multilateral support reinforces Morocco’s trajectory towards more resilient and sustainable growth.
