On April 7, 2025, Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort reached an important milestone by receiving the GOLD certification from EarthCheck, thus becoming the first establishment in Morocco to achieve this level of excellence in sustainability. This certification rewards the resort’s sustained efforts to reduce its ecological footprint and promote eco-responsible initiatives, after four years of SILVER certification.

Mazagan has implemented various sustainable solutions, including:

    1. Wastewater Treatment Plant (STEP): The recycling of wastewater allows for the reuse of water for irrigating green spaces and sports fields.
    2. Efficient irrigation systems: The use of drip irrigation and automated systems reduces water waste, particularly for the golf course.
    3. Composting and waste management: Organic waste is transformed into compost for green spaces, while waste management is optimized.
    4. Reduction of plastic: Mazagan is gradually phasing out single-use plastic in favor of recyclable materials.
    5. Energy savings and renewable energy: LED lighting and the integration of renewable energies are part of the efforts to reduce energy consumption.

The resort also conducts social initiatives, such as the Mazagan Academy, which offers a second chance to young people in the region by providing training in hospitality.

This GOLD certification marks an important step, but Mazagan aims to receive PLATINUM certification in the coming years. Jacques Claudel, the resort’s general manager, emphasizes the importance of this recognition, which affirms Mazagan’s role as a pioneer in eco-responsible hospitality.

EarthCheck, a global leader in environmental certification in the tourism sector, evaluates the practices of establishments according to strict sustainability criteria.
