The Mohammed VI Museum for the Civilization of Water in Morocco is hosting an artistic exhibition until May 30, inviting the public to explore, through art, the multiple challenges related to water preservation and the impacts of climate change.

This exhibition, whose opening coincided with World Water Day, offers a cross-examination between art and environmental awareness through three major works, each carrying a strong message about the urgency of preserving this vital resource.

Titled “The Drop of Hope,” the first work by Moroccan artist Abdessamad Bouysramne is a monumental installation made of clay, iron, and copper, inspired by ancient water collection techniques such as khettaras and wells.

Composed of eighteen earth-colored drops and a single blue drop, this artistic creation symbolizing the rarity of water calls for a collective awareness of the necessity to preserve this vital resource.

This exhibition also showcases and appreciates a wooden installation by Belgian artist Pierre Coric under the theme “62 Columns,” representing six decades of rainfall in Marrakech.

Through the diversity of their shapes and colors, these columns testify to climate upheavals and the gradual scarcity of precipitation.

These two works by artists Abdessamad Bouysramne and Pierre Coric have been donated to the museum.

This journey is also enriched by four artistic creations, winners of the international competition “The Water We Want,” created by young artists expressing their vision and commitment to water protection.

In a statement to MAP, the director of the Mohammed VI Museum for the Civilization of Water in Morocco, Abdennabi El Mandour, emphasized that this exhibition reflects the museum’s desire to mobilize art as a lever for raising awareness about water-related issues.

“The emotion and creativity of the artists provide another perspective on this crucial theme while awakening consciousness to environmental challenges,” he added.

Accessible to the general public, this exhibition reinforces the educational and cultural vocation of this museum dedicated to the history and issues of water in Morocco.
