Lesieur Cristal inaugurated its new ground-mounted photovoltaic plant on Tuesday at its industrial site in Aïn Harrouda, a project developed by Nareva Services.
This milestone represents a decisive advancement in the group’s decarbonization strategy and confirms its commitment to accelerating the energy transition in the Moroccan industry, according to a joint statement.
The facility deployed in Aïn Harrouda, with a capacity of 2 MWp (megawatt-peak), consists of 3,254 photovoltaic modules installed over an area of 1.5 hectares, enabling an annual reduction of approximately 2,400 tons of CO₂, equivalent to planting 90,000 trees each year, the statement noted.
This project bolsters the efforts already made by Lesieur Cristal to enhance the energy efficiency of all its industrial sites, the same source pointed out, recalling that Lesieur Cristal’s roadmap initiated in 2020 aims for a 65% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030.
The commissioning of this plant adds to several already established initiatives, such as modernizing packaging lines, transitioning from HDPE (high-density polyethylene) to PET (polyethylene terephthalate), and installing a 15-ton-per-hour biomass boiler that allows Lesieur Cristal to replace its thermal energy with 100% green energy.
The ambition is to continuously and systematically pursue energy optimization across all processes.
It should be noted that the Aïn Harrouda plant now serves as a pilot site for decarbonization in the agri-food industry. In addition to significantly reducing its carbon footprint, the plant will decrease its annual energy consumption by 12% through direct on-site production.
“The inauguration of this photovoltaic plant fully aligns with the sustainable vision upheld by Lesieur Cristal,” stated Saïd Dahbani, the Director of Industrial Operations at Lesieur Cristal, emphasizing that it reinforces a series of structural initiatives reflecting the Group’s commitment to combining environmental responsibility, industrial performance, and active contribution to national energy transition.
For his part, Norddine Moukhlisse, the General Director of Nareva Services, expressed pride in his group’s establishment and operation of a next-generation photovoltaic solar plant.

By inaugurating this solar plant, Lesieur Cristal reaffirms its ambition to combine industrial performance with environmental responsibility, while supporting national objectives in energy transition and sustainable sovereignty.
This commitment is fully aligned with the company’s mission, “Serving the Earth,” which is shared with its main shareholder, Avril (the 5th largest agri-food group in France).
Through this initiative, Lesieur Cristal aims to continue implementing concrete actions aimed at sustainably reducing its carbon footprint and promoting the use of entirely green energy.
