The iconic hotel establishment in Marrakech takes a significant step towards energy sustainability. Le Méridien N’Fis has just equipped itself with 25 solar water heaters, an initiative led by Madaëf, a tourism asset manager, to reduce its propane consumption and carbon footprint.
This energy transition is part of both an ecological and economic logic. Indeed, solar water heaters can cover a significant portion of hot water needs while reducing energy consumption related to water heating by up to 85%. This represents a direct reduction in costs and polluting emissions.
By replacing part of the fossil energy with solar energy, the hotel significantly reduces its greenhouse gas emissions. This approach aligns perfectly with Madaëf’s commitments to sustainable tourism in Morocco, particularly through initiatives like the Eco6 program, which promotes innovative and responsible solutions in tourist destinations.
This green orientation is not new for Le Méridien N’Fis, which can proudly claim to have received the international “Green Key” label three times since 2012. This label rewards efforts made for more responsible resource management, particularly in terms of water and electricity.
Beyond solar energy, the establishment has also invested in other ecological solutions: water-efficient irrigation systems, LED bulbs, smart switches, and biodegradable guest products, among others.
With this energy shift, Le Méridien N’Fis confirms that sustainability is not just a stance but a concrete, profitable, and inspiring strategy for the entire Moroccan hotel sector.
