The Ministry of Equipment and Water will organize a workshop next Monday in Rabat to mark the official launch of the cooperation project “Sustainable Territories – Sustainable and Resilient Lifestyles in Morocco.” This initiative is being carried out in partnership with the embassies of Germany and Denmark in Morocco.

This ambitious project primarily aims to support the territories affected by the earthquake in September 2023, focusing on improving access to water and promoting inclusive economic development in the High Atlas region.

The goal is to establish participatory management of water resources, rehabilitate damaged hydraulic infrastructure, and promote innovative nature-inspired solutions. The project also aims to encourage the creation of sustainable income sources, particularly for women, through the valorization of natural resources, especially water.

The workshop will bring together Moroccan, German, and Danish officials and will feature a discussion panel on the theme “A Collective Commitment to Revitalize the Territories Affected by the Al Haouz Earthquake,” highlighting the efforts made, the progress achieved, and the challenges still to be addressed.

Jointly funded by the German and Danish governments, the project will be implemented by the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ). Partnership agreements will also be signed during this event, thus strengthening the commitment of the various stakeholders to the resilience of the affected territories.
