JTI (Japan Tobacco International) has unveiled the results of the tender for the construction of its new factory in Tétouan. The selected companies are Urbagec and EM Energie, recognized for their experience and expertise in the fields of construction and energy infrastructure, respectively.

With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Urbagec has been chosen for the general construction work of the JTI factory. A key player in the Moroccan market, Urbagec is known for its high-quality services and the integration of new technologies into its construction processes. The company has successfully completed large-scale projects such as the production site of Sentury with an area of 145,000 m² and the TMSA warehouses with an area of 30,000 m² in Tangier.

EM Energie has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector. The company prioritizes sustainable and efficient energy solutions. It has been selected for the development and implementation of the energy infrastructure of the factory, a key element of the project that is set to be JTI’s first Green Factory in North and West Africa. Among EM Energie’s achievements are the Royal Mansour hotel in Marrakech and the Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences.

The new JTI factory, located in the Tétouan Park industrial zone, will be equipped with the most advanced technologies to become a model Green Factory. At full capacity, the industrial unit will create more than 200 direct and indirect jobs in the region. The goal is also to employ 30% women, as the inclusion and economic empowerment of women is a major pillar of the company’s human resources and CSR policy. The initial annual production capacity of the factory is planned to meet the needs of the domestic market. This capacity can be increased to address potential export opportunities.

The selection of these two leading companies marks an important step in the advancement of the JTI factory project in Tétouan, thereby reinforcing the company’s commitment to working with top local partners.
