On May 14, 2025, Rabat hosted the 2nd edition of the Sustainable Industry Forum Meeting, organized by REACT, an initiative of H2O Hub dedicated to innovation in support of sustainable transition. The event brought together public decision-makers, industrialists, experts, and international partners around a central issue: the decarbonization of the Moroccan industry.
A space for strategic dialogue
The meeting was opened by Ms. Hekmat El Hadri, founder of REACT, who emphasized the importance of a transformation driven by innovation and aligned with the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Ambassador Seyni Nafo, co-chair of the Green Climate Fund, then set the tone for a forum focused on concrete action, particularly on the African continent.
Ministers Ryad Mezzour (Industry and Trade) and Younes Sekkouri (Economic Inclusion and Employment) reminded attendees of the necessity for convergence between public policies, climate financing, and industrial innovation to address the imperatives of climate change.
Topics at the heart of climate action
Throughout the day, discussions focused on financing mechanisms for decarbonization, the key role of renewable energies in the competitiveness of companies, the potential of green hydrogen, and the consequences of the European carbon mechanism CBAM on Moroccan exports. The debates highlighted the need for coordination among economic actors, regulators, and financiers.
Towards a low-carbon and competitive industry
As the industry accounts for nearly 30% of greenhouse gas emissions in Morocco, the forum reminded participants that the sector can become a driver of ecological transition. This requires investing in innovation, attracting green financing, and strengthening regional cooperation, particularly at the African level.
Through this meeting, Morocco reaffirms its ambition to build a green, sovereign, and sustainable industry, in line with new global standards and market expectations.
