Leader of VTC applications in Morocco, inDrive is committed to the environment by partnering with the High Atlas Foundation. Through this large-scale initiative, the company has financed the planting of 51,769 fruit and nut trees in the Al Haouz region and Casablanca, with a total investment of $36,000.

This project is part of a broader sustainability strategy led by inDrive. Its originality lies in its funding method: between January and February, funds were directly deducted from the revenue generated by rides made through the platform. A concrete and symbolic approach, illustrating the company’s commitment to ecological transition and sustainable development.

The plantings, carried out in coordination with the High Atlas Foundation and monitored via the KoboToolbox platform, will continue until May. In Casablanca, 5,000 trees will be planted each month from March to June, while the schedule for the Al Haouz province includes:

    – **March**: 8,000 trees
    – **April**: 8,000 trees
    – **May**: 8,000 trees
    – **June**: 7,769 trees

The selected species – almond trees, argan trees, sweet cherry trees, fig trees, vines, olive trees, and pomegranate trees – were chosen for their resilience, agricultural value, and economic potential for local families.

Beyond its environmental impact, this initiative also aims to address socio-economic challenges. More than 70 families, representing about 400 people in Casablanca and the Al Haouz region, will directly benefit from this operation.

**A sustainable social and economic impact**

Anas Taoussi, head of driver operations at inDrive Morocco, emphasizes the importance of involving farming families: “We want the benefits of this project to directly benefit those who depend on the land. A fruit tree can generate up to 18 million dirhams in income over seven years. By planting these trees, we are sustainably improving family income and strengthening their economic stability.”

The initiative also contributes to youth employment, limiting rural exodus and fostering a stronger attachment to local territories. Furthermore, it aids in soil regeneration, air purification, and combating climate change by capturing carbon dioxide.

Yossef Ben-Meir, president of the High Atlas Foundation, praises this approach: “inDrive’s commitment to sustainable agriculture led by communities is a model to follow. This is a collaboration based on the development priorities defined by the populations themselves, both for their future and for that of their environment.”
