In Tangier, the Hilton Al Houara Resort & Spa has chosen to highlight those who are rarely seen but whose work is essential: the housekeeping teams. On September 15, the establishment hosted the North Africa & Levant Housekeeping Conference, held simultaneously with the Hilton Cairo Heliopolis. This initiative is part of International Housekeeping Week, an annual event celebrated by Hilton hotels worldwide.

Often reduced to a maintenance function, the housekeeping service actually plays a key role in the reputation and performance of hotels. At Hilton, it is considered a true pillar, at the intersection of operational excellence, brand image, and social responsibility.

During this regional meeting, professionals and teams from several countries shared their experiences around a program focused on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. Roundtable discussions, training workshops, and team-building sessions marked the day, highlighting new practices and trends that are redefining housekeeping.

A highlight of the event, the Housekeeping Awards celebrated the excellence and commitment of employees. Two awards were presented: the Best Housekeeping Leader – North Africa and the Most Outstanding Housekeeping Team – North Africa & Levant.

But beyond recognizing talent, Hilton took this opportunity to reaffirm the central role of housekeeping in its CSR strategy. Efficient linen management, the choice of eco-friendly products, and reductions in water and energy consumption are all daily practices upheld by the teams, reflecting a hospitality committed to its environmental impact.

“Behind every unforgettable stay, there are discreet yet essential actions. Our housekeeping teams embody Hilton excellence: providing our guests with a pristine, safe, and responsible environment while illustrating our vision of sustainable hospitality,” emphasizes Julien Besançon, General Manager of the Hilton Tangier Al Houara Resort & Spa.

By hosting this regional conference for the first time, the Tangier hotel pays tribute to employees who, away from the spotlight, shape the customer experience every day. It serves as a reminder that hospitality excellence relies as much on the visible refinement of service as on the silent dedication of these true unsung heroes.
