The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) announced on Monday the successful commissioning of the 225/60 kV Guelmim II substation, aimed at strengthening the capacity of the electrical network in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.

This electrical facility constitutes a strategic infrastructure that will enhance the capacity of the electrical network in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region and improve the quality of electricity supply for both domestic use and industrial and agricultural needs, ONEE stated in a press release.

The commissioning of this 225/60 kV Guelmim II substation marks an important step in the modernization and strengthening program of the national electricity transmission network, the same source emphasized.

It will help support the sustained growth of electricity demand in the region, secure the supply to existing and future consumption centers, and facilitate the integration of renewable energies planned in the South of the Kingdom.

The realization of this electrical facility is part of the High Royal Guidelines for consolidating the Kingdom’s energy sovereignty and promoting renewable energies.

In this regard, ONEE is tirelessly working towards the development of a high-performing, resilient, and sustainable national electrical network capable of supporting the Kingdom’s energy transition and its socio-economic evolution, the press release concluded.
