The Competition Council has received a notification regarding the creation of a joint venture between OCP Green Energy S.A. (OGE) and Fortescue Future Industries United Kingdom Holdings Limited (FFI). This project aims to develop assets for the production of green energy, including green hydrogen and ammonia as well as green fertilizers. This initiative is part of Morocco’s national strategy to strengthen renewable energy production and reduce carbon emissions.

OGE, a public limited company under Moroccan law, is wholly owned by OCP S.A. and specializes in the production and marketing of electricity from renewable sources. On the other hand, FFI is a limited liability company subject to British law, owned by Fortescue Future Industries Pty Ltd, and focuses on the research, development, and production of green electricity and green hydrogen.

The new entity, established under Moroccan law, will focus on upstream and downstream industrial development, as well as research and technological development activities. This economic concentration project aims to promote innovation in the green energy sector and strengthen Morocco’s industrial capacities in this field. Interested third parties have until June 19, 2024, to submit their comments.
