The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, chaired a meeting on Thursday in Rabat of the steering committee responsible for “Morocco’s Offer” in the field of green hydrogen, during which a pre-selection of a series of projects covering mainly the three regions of the southern provinces of the Kingdom was carried out.
These are the regions of Guelmin-Oued Noun, Laayoune Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, according to a statement from the Head of Government’s department, specifying that the examination of these projects will be deepened with their promoters.
In application of the High Royal Instructions aimed at accelerating the implementation of “Morocco’s Offer” in the field of green hydrogen with the required quality and responding to national and foreign project promoters in this promising sector, the steering committee examined during this meeting, under the presidency of the Head of Government, the contractual framework related to the public land base dedicated to the realization of these projects and the mechanisms capable of optimizing its use.
This step follows the discussion by the steering committee, during its previous meeting, of the methodology adopted to evaluate and select the project offers submitted to the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), which number 40 offers presented by Moroccan and foreign project promoters wishing to produce green hydrogen and derivatives, intended for the domestic market, for export, or for both, the statement emphasizes.
In order to ensure the success of the implementation of “Morocco’s Offer,” in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines, the framework investment agreements between the State and investors include clauses related to the schedule of meetings in order to guarantee a regular assessment of the progress made in the implementation of these projects.
Participating in this meeting were Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, Riad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Public Policy Evaluation, and Tarik Moufaddal, CEO of MASEN.
