Morocco and the Netherlands have strengthened their cooperation in renewable energy and green hydrogen. Leila Benali, Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition, and Rob Jetten, the Dutch Minister for Climate and Energy Policy, signed an action plan covering the period 2024-2025. This agreement aims to establish a roadmap for increased bilateral collaboration in the field of renewable energies.

According to the weekly magazine La Vie Éco, this action plan emphasizes strengthening government partnerships and sharing knowledge on strategies and legislation. It also provides for promoting collaborations between companies from both countries to develop joint projects, thus supporting the energy transition and creating an international supply chain for green hydrogen.

This plan is a logical continuation of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 21, 2023, and is part of the framework of the 2024 World Hydrogen Summit, organized in Rotterdam. This event, sponsored by the Sustainable Energy Council and the Dutch government, brought together global energy leaders and government representatives to discuss ways to accelerate the global energy transition through green hydrogen.

At this summit, Leila Benali presented Morocco’s initiatives in the field of green hydrogen, highlighting ongoing projects and Morocco’s ambitions to become a major player in this sector by 2030. These initiatives include the development of green hydrogen projects and its derivatives, thus supporting global energy transition goals and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
