Green hydrogen is emerging as one of Morocco’s strategic bets to successfully achieve its energy transition. At the opening of the World Power-to-X Summit 2025, held in Marrakech under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Minister of Energy Transition, Leila Benali, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s ambition to be among the future major producers and exporters of this energy.

Presenting the national roadmap, Ms. Benali emphasized that this endeavor requires regulatory and institutional flexibility to keep pace with global changes in the clean energy sector. She stressed the importance of placing youth and innovative project leaders at the heart of this dynamic to generate economic and social value as well as job opportunities.

The minister identified three major priorities: developing modern energy infrastructure, establishing a center of excellence in research and innovation in the field, and positioning Morocco as a unique energy corridor at both regional and international levels.

With its geographical advantages, academic and industrial networks, as well as a strong political will, the Kingdom aims to become a hub for cooperation and scientific innovation around renewable energies.

Organized by IRESEN, in partnership with Masen, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, and the Green H2 Cluster, the Power-to-X Summit brings together decision-makers, researchers, and industrialists to discuss concrete solutions for accelerating the global energy transition.
