According to the forecasts of the Working Group on Energy Balances (Ageb), energy consumption in Germany for 2024 is expected to drop by 1.7%, reaching 10,453 petajoules compared to 2023. If this estimate is confirmed, energy consumption would be nearly 30% lower than the level in 1990, the year it reached 14,905 petajoules.

The report highlights that economic stagnation has largely contributed to this decline, with marked decreases in production in the manufacturing sector. These declines have not been offset by the recent increase in demand in energy-intensive industries.
