Bank Al Maghrib (BAM) and the World Bank (WB) jointly announced the launch of the “Douar Tour” concept aimed at strengthening the capacities of rural populations in the financial decision-making process. This initiative, initiated as part of the “Greenback-Morocco” initiative, began in Rabat with the goal of providing targeted information on available financial services for money transfers, their rates, and how to make the most of them.

The “Douar Tour” relies on educational tools to raise awareness among stakeholders in the financial ecosystem and civil society, who will then disseminate this information to their target communities. Two initial pilot operations were conducted on May 6 and 8, 2024, in the weekly markets of two localities in the province of Khouribga (Oued Zem and Lagfaf). A mobile agency was made available to beneficiaries to put the knowledge acquired into practice.

This innovative concept will be deployed throughout 2024 in four regions: Beni-Mellal Khenifra, Souss-Massa, Fès-Meknès, and the Oriental.
