ENGIE North Africa officially announces the appointment of Rik De Buyserie as the new General Director, succeeding Loïc Jaegert-Huber. This change at the head of the subsidiary is part of the continuity of the growth and energy transition strategy pursued by ENGIE in the region.

In his first statements, Rik De Buyserie expressed his enthusiasm: “I am honored to take the lead of ENGIE North Africa and to contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions tailored to local needs and the priorities of the Group. North Africa has immense potential, and we will continue our close collaboration with our partners to support its energy transition.”

With a career spanning over 30 years within the ENGIE Group, Rik De Buyserie has held numerous responsibilities around the world. His experiences cover various sectors such as energy production, infrastructure, human resources, and the management of organizational transformation projects.

Prior to his appointment in Casablanca, he was Regional Vice-President Transformation and Geographies Africa & APAC, overseeing operations in Morocco and Egypt. From 2022 to 2025, he led ENGIE’s activities in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring the production and distribution of electricity to residential customers. He was also General Director of ENGIE Energia Perú from 2018 to 2022, while coordinating the Group’s activities in Colombia and support functions for Latin America.

Graduating in industrial and organizational psychology from Ghent University, Rik De Buyserie also completed a general management program at INSEAD. His international background, covering Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa, is a major asset to support ENGIE’s ambitions in North Africa.

ENGIE has praised the commitment of his predecessor, Loïc Jaegert-Huber, whose initiatives have significantly strengthened the Group’s presence in the region during his tenure.
