Morocco regularly positions itself as a committed player in the energy transition. However, according to the latest Energy Transition Index published by the World Economic Forum, the Kingdom ranks only 70th out of 118 countries. This ranking highlights a significant gap between stated ambitions and actual capabilities.

Despite notable progress in electricity access and network stability, Morocco lags significantly in infrastructure, innovation, and especially training. Human capital, a key element of any sustainable transition, remains the weak link, with a critical score in education and skills. While strategies exist, their implementation is hindered by a lack of technical and human resources.

The index, however, highlights a strong regulatory and political commitment but calls for increased efforts to build a coherent, competitive, and inclusive energy ecosystem.
