At the 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC-2025), Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, praised Morocco’s progress in the field of clean energy, particularly in green hydrogen.
“Morocco is now able to offer the world and no longer sees itself solely as a recipient of support,” he stated following his bilateral meeting with Leila Benali, Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
Relations between Morocco and Germany have significantly strengthened in recent years. The discussions between the two officials focused on the next steps to deepen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. Jochen Flasbarth also praised Morocco’s commitment to strengthening the United Nations development system, a key point advocated by Leila Benali during a high-level panel organized as part of the event.
The MSC-2025, which brings together heads of state, diplomats, and experts from over 110 countries, emphasizes global strategic issues such as governance, climate security, and Europe’s role in the world. Morocco once again confirms its positioning as a key player in the energy transition on an international scale.
