The national production of electrical energy recorded a growth of 3% by the end of 2024, after an increase of 2.4% the previous year, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

This development is attributed to the strengthening of renewable energy production related to law 13-09 (+25.2%), combined with an increase in private electricity production as well as that of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) by 1.5% each, specifies the DEPF in its recent economic note.

Regarding the volume of net called energy, it increased by 3.9% by the end of 2024, after a rise of 4% a year earlier, continues the same source.

In these conditions, the imported volume of electrical energy increased by 25.3% by the end of 2024, after a rise of 23.8% a year earlier, while the exported volume recorded a decrease of 22.9%, following a drop of 35.1% the previous month.

As for the consumption of electrical energy, it increased by 1.9% by the end of 2024, after an improvement of 3% last year, covering a performance of +8.7% in the fourth quarter of 2024.

This positive development, by the end of 2024, is mainly driven by the growth of 6.8% in the consumption of “Very high, high, and medium voltage” energy, including that of distributors. Low voltage energy, on the other hand, contracted by 12%.
