Electricity production at the national level increased by 5.9% during the first nine months of 2025, following a rise of 2.4% in the previous year, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This growth is attributed to a 7.7% increase in private electricity production and a 6.9% rise from the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), as noted by the DEPF in its economic note for November 2025.

In terms of net energy demand, it reached its highest level recorded in the last twelve years by the end of September 2025, showing a growth rate of 7.1%, after an increase of 3.6% a year earlier.

Under these circumstances, the volume of imported electricity rose by 24.7% by the end of September 2025, following a surge of 30.7% the previous year, while the exported volume decreased by 29.4%, after a decline of 27.2% by the end of September 2024.
